Art Basel is getting smaller this year…on purpose! 🎨
The fair returns to the Miami Beach Convention Center December 4th through 6th with 272 galleries from more than 40 countries.
That’s about a dozen fewer than last year, and the director is calling it a tighter show, not a step back.
The biggest change is the layout.
Instead of clustering the major galleries in one corner, they’re spreading them out so you’ll discover smaller and emerging galleries along the way. 😮
The large-scale Meridians section has been cut, and more than 30 galleries are making their Art Basel debut.
Outside the hall, look for a new James Turrell installation and artist-designed ping pong tables in Collins Park! 🏓

Hey South Beach! Art Basel is getting smaller this year, and it's actually on purpose. If you're new here, my name is Amara, and I do video marketing for small businesses, and I keep up on all things South Beach so you don't have to.
The fair is gonna be back at the convention center from December 4th through December 6th. They'll have 272 galleries from more than 40 countries. That's about a dozen fewer than last year, and the fair itself is using 12% less floor space. The director is calling it a tighter show, not a step back. The big-name galleries that used to cluster in one corner are being spread out so visitors walk past smaller and emerging galleries on the way. They've also cut the large-scale section called Meridians and are debuting more than 30 new galleries.
Outside the hall, there's a new James Turrell installation, and Collins Park is getting public ping-pong tables created by artists. So if you're planning to go to Art Basel this year, expect a very different walk through
