A group of yoga teachers offers free classes on the beach at 3rd Street every morning and evening, 365 days a year. The only cost is a donation, left to your own judgment. Started in 1998 by a yoga teacher named October Rose who practiced alone on the sand until neighbors began joining her, the group still holds to that original spirit: yoga taught by heart, not for profit.
Classes meet at the lifeguard hut right on the beach, where you can watch the sunrise or sunset over the ocean while you practice. The routine stays consistent year-round, with morning and evening sessions that shift with the seasons. The teachers are volunteers who believe yoga should stay affordable and open to everyone.
